AUTUMN ELECTIONS 2020

If you would like to be part of the SU and want to support student leadership at Nottingham College to give students the opportunity to shape their experience, then this is how you get involved.

We are looking for students who are passionate and keen to make a difference and enhance the student experience for all at Nottingham College. Being part of the SU team is a rewarding opportunity which will help you to enhance your skills and boost your CV or UCAS application.

ROLES AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO APPLY FOR:

CAMPUS OFFICER

Two per positions available per campus

  • Be the voice of your campus.
  • Help us to run campaigns, events and trips.
  • Make positive changes for all students at Nottingham College.
  • Be part of the Student Council.

ALL SU TEAM MEMBERS WILL ALSO:

  • Have the opportunity to sit on various college committees.
  • Lead college wide campaigns.
  • Plan and run college wide events/activities.
  • Have regular meetings as an SU to agree priorities for the student body.

Applications must be submitted before 23rd October. The application form is below. On the application you must include a manifesto, which should state why you feel you would are the best candidate for this position, as this will be what influences other students to vote for you during elections.

ELECTION PROCESS

The Students’ Union elections are designed to allow all students the chance to have a democratic say in how the college is run. You can do this by running for a position on the Students’ Union or getting involved by voting in June 2020!

Applications

Step 1: APPLICATIONS

Deadline: Friday 23rd October

If you want to apply for a position in the Students’ Union Team then you must complete an application form. To apply you must complete the online application form including a manifesto which should say way you are applying for the position and why students should vote for you. If you need help applying or with writting a manifesto then email studentsunion@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.

2. BOOK YOUR 1-2-1 CAMPAIGN SUPPORT

14th September – 23rd October

This is your opportunity to meet with SU staff to discuss the role you are applying for and the rules and regulations of elections and get tips and advice, as well as get any support and ask any questions you may have. You can do this by emailing studentsunion@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.

Step 3: Campaigning

9th – 13th November

Now is your time to go out and campaign. This means going out to get the message out there that you are running for the position, and that people should vote for you. You will be given guidence on tips and rules to campaigning during your 1-2-1 meeting.

Step 4: Voting

9th - 13th November 

This is when the online voting is open for all students to vote for thier prefered candidates. Students can only vote once. During this time you can also student campaign to inform students that you are running for a position. You will be contacting on the final day of elections to be informed if you were successful in getting the position. College wide announcement on Monday 16th November. 

 

Training

Step 5: Training 

Date: TBC 

Successful candidates will be invited to training which will give them the knowledge and confidence to be part of the SU and Student Council. This training will take part before the first Student Council Meeting.
